This is what we learn about Michele Borrillo from the documents (click on locations to see on a map):
This is a ship passenger list that left Napoli (Naples), Italy on March 19, 1926. The ships name is S.S. Conte Rosso.
Michele Borrillo is on line 8. At this time he is 27, married and works as a farm hand. He can read and write Italian. He is from the south of Italy. His last permanent residence was New York, NY. He left his wife Incoronata Tremonte in San Marco dei Cavoti, Italy. His final destination is New York, NY.
On page 2 of this same document remember to follow line 8 where the information is about Michele Borrillo. Here's what we learn on page 2.
From the top of the document, the ship arrived in New York on March 29, 1926 (a 10 day voyage).
He doesn't have a ticket to his final destination. He has $25 on him. He has visited the US before. The document says 922/25. I believe this means 1922-25, because of another document when he came in 1922 and it was his first time the US. He came to NY. He is going to his residence at 278 W 149th St. New York, NY. Above this address is handwritten in Bro (meaning brother) Donato. He doesn't plan to remain in his country after working in the US, but plans to become a citizen and remain in the US permanently. He answered no to all the questions about being in prison or being a polygamist or anarchist, or being violent toward the government of the United States or being deported within the year. He said his health was good and he had no deformities. He was 5' 3" tall. His complexion is nat (maybe meaning natural?), his hair and eyes are chest (perhaps meaning chestnut brown?) He has no marks of identification. He was born in San Marco dei Cavoti, Italy. And he received his visa from Washington on October 7, 1925.
Wasn't that fun to learn all that!
